This is a rendition of 'Goblin Market' by Christina Rossetti, which you emailed me so very long ago. I have been meaning to read it, and I finally did! I really liked it. I liked how whimsical it was while also maintaining a very melancholic tone. It reminded me almost of The Wizard of Oz or Alice's Adventures in Wonderland in that way. Anyways, this was a live rendition of an abbreviated version of this poem because it was quite long. I know the audio is not great on this version due to it being recorded on a single microphone in one take, but I figured I would share it with you anyway!
lyrics
Morning and evening
Maids heard the goblins cry
Come buy our orchard fruits
Come buy, come buy
All ripe together
In summer weather
Morns that pass by
Fair eves that fly
Come buy
Come buy
Our grapes fresh from the vine
Come buy
...
Backwards up the mossy glen
Trooped all the goblin men
With their shrill repeated cry
Come buy, come buy, come buy
She clipped a golden precious lock
Sweet honey come right from the rock
Free fruits that the orchard bore
She sucked right til her lips were sore
Come buy, come buy, come buy
Come buy, come buy, come buy
